# Cookie Preferences

## Recommended category structure

* Essential: session, trial assertion, security, and basic site behavior
* Analytics: non-essential performance measurement
* Preferences: language and interface choices
* Marketing: should remain separate if product-external campaigns or measurement are used

## What should not be disabled?

The following are required for the product to function:

* auth and session behavior
* security and abuse protections
* core routing preferences
